Email marketing starts with a targeted list. You have to start with a list, big or small. I started building lists from the internet about four years ago. Since I was still in the contracting business, I started building lists of people that I could potentially sell services to. (Building Owners, Hospital Managers, Property Managers, Developers, etc.) I found that the internet provided a wealth of information about these people. I have been compiling that information into my own list (Sql database) for the past four years.
I started by sending emails (example) to these people on my list for my commercial waterproofing company in Atlanta, GA. The email campaigns did well.
I realized that this same method would work in other markets around the country. I began adding all the contacts that I could find in other markets around the country to my list. Once a customer list was compiled in a new market, I started seeking contractors local to that area to work with. We planned to create emails like the example provided and send them to the list that we had already created as a service. We compiled a list of contractors in other markets and sent them a solicitation. (example) . The solicitation produced interested contractors. We started out with Amatex Power Washing in New Jersey. I am proud to say that after 4 years Amatex is still a customer. See testimonial from Josh at Amatex.
I currently have companies that I work with in Florida, Texas, California, Arizona, Michigan, Kansas, Delaware, North Carolina, New Jersey, Washington and Illinois. Review testimonials by clicking here.
In the beginning I was creating an email in Word and sending it out of Microsoft Outlook. This process was time consuming but was the only way we knew how to get the emails out. We were definately maxing out our Bellsouth account.
Since then I have developed and integrated more sophisticated tools to deliver the emails and measure the results.
Email marketing provides information that no other media can provide.
I have used this information to make my system work the best for me and my clients. Email marketing is something that all business owners should use.
